Computational Thinking Workshops

The Digital Technologies Curriculum | Hangarau Matihiko learning area has been launched, and will need to be embedded in all New Zealand classrooms from the start of 2020.  TTS Professional Learning offer three levels of workshop for teachers who wish to upskill in this area and for schools who are preparing to meet this new learning area.

140 Emerging: Getting Started with Digital Technologies

This course is an introduction to the learning area and is intended for teachers and leaders at year 0-8 schools that are brand new to the idea of computational thinking and need to prepare for the new digital technologies curriculum. It covers: algorithmic thinking debugging binary numbers sequencing loops. The course is almost entirely practical, and participants will be able to take several learning activities back to school.

240 Extending: Next Steps with Digital Technologies

This course is a continuation of skills covered in 140 Emerging: Computational Thinking – Getting Started with Digital Technologies and is intended for teachers and leaders at year 0-8 schools that are already familiar with the concept of computational thinking.  It covers: a variety of programming platforms specific to Apple, Chrome, and Windows.

340 Empowering: Getting hands on – let’s tell robots what to do!

This course is an continuation of skills covered in 240 Extending: Computational Thinking – Next Steps with Digital Technologies and is intended for teachers and leaders at year 0-8 schools that are already familiar with the concept of coding.  It covers: using robots such as Sphero for meaningful learning.
